Welcome to Circuit Avionics
This is advanced home-cockpit hardware.
Complete the checklists carefully to get connected for the first time. Do not omit any steps.
Going forward, all you'll have to do is start Mobiflight and click
Important Notice
You MUST click CANCEL if you see the following popup during setup
More Information
You may be prompted to upload MobiFlight Firmware to devices with a compatible chip.
This chip is present in a wide range of equipment, from Flight Simulator periphals to 3D printers.
Not all users will receive the popup, but those who do must follow this instruction.
The firmware upload replaces the firmware that shipped with the device, rendering it inoperable.
Therefore, you MUST click CANCEL.
When asked to disable this feature altogether. click OK.
You can check whether this feature is active on the MobiFlight Modules menu. Ensure the box shown below is unticked.
Run MFConnector.exe, located in the installation folder. Make a handy shortcut!
It's OK to accept updates. Caution the specific firmware update mentioned above.
MSFS PMDG 737 pilots: install FSUIPC version 7 (free)
FSX / P3D pilots: install the relevant FSUIPC version (free)
Load up Flight Simulator
Plug in your new hardware.
Don't use an unpowered USB hub
If you bought the Autopilot and Radio combi, leave the radio unplugged for now
Unplug any other MobiFlight devices
Verify everything is communicating
- If Module isn't green, reconnect the USB.
Plug it into the back of your PC, instead of front / top connectors
Make sure you're not using an unpowered hub - these don't provide a stable voltage
- If Sim Status isn't green, MSFS 2020 users should reinstall the WASM module
(Extras -> MSFS2020 -> Install WASM Module)
P3D/FSX require the correct version of FSUIPC
Restart MobiFlight and the simulator
An Aircraft Profile is a detailed set of instructions for each button, knob and display on your hardware.
When you first open the Aircraft Profile, you will be asked which piece of hardware it applies to. This is called "assigning". Until then, it's classed as 'orphaned'.
This simple step must be done correctly or your hardware won't function!
A popup appears. This is where you "assign" the orphaned profile to the serial number of your hardware:
To assign the profile (see numbered image above)
Click the orphaned serial
Select the relevant hardware device from the drop down list
Click "Assign"
Click OK
Click the Save button. You won't have to assign the profile any more:
One last thing:
Click the Run button on MobiFlight
At this point your displays will light up. If you've got the Circuit Avionics Radio, push system selector 1 or 2.
If nothing happens - don't worry. Re-check the steps above, and also try restarting MobiFlight. A small number of users have reported restarting their entire computer was required.
Once you've tried these troubleshooting steps, please contact me and we'll work it out.
If you've got additional MobiFlight hardware, including that from Circuit Avionics, see Managing Multiple Devices for information on how to run these.
There is a lot of documentation available, including Useful Information.
Support is a long-term project. MobiFlight is regularly updated, as is flight simulator, and there are always new aircraft to fly. I can't create a profile for every aircraft - and that's where the community has to step up.
All pilots are encouraged to join the Circuit Avionics Discord and the MobiFlight Discord. When you make a profile, please share it with the community for the good of everyone.
