On the aircraft EFB, linked instruments should be selected:
MENU -> OPTIONS -> AIRCRAFT -> LINKED INSTR -> CPT/FO & ISIS
This keeps the captain’s, first officer’s, and standby barometric pressures in sync with one another.
This video takes place on board the iniBuilds A350.
Functions are mapped from Airbus to the Boeing equivalent.
N1 THR is mapped to push the SPD knob, i.e. managed speed.
SPEED is mapped to pull SPD knob, i.e. selected speed.
Note, one of these modes will be active at all times, either managed or selected speed.
VNAV is mapped to push ALT, i.e. managed altitude. The aircraft must be in NAV (i.e. following the planned route).
LVL CHG is mapped to pull ALT, i.e. selected altitude.
ALT HLD is mapped to push V/S, i.e. level out.
V/S is mapped to pull V/S, i.e. selected vertical speed.
ALT knob PUSH toggles the units between 1,000 feet and 100 feet.
HDG SEL is mapped to pull HDG, i.e. selected heading.
LNAV is mapped to push HDG, i.e. managed heading (NAV). The aircraft must be within 1 mile of the planned route.
The heading knob can be pushed to sync to the aircraft’s current heading.
VOR LOC pushes LOC (there is no VOR mode on Airbus A350).
APP pushes APPR.
As on the real aircraft, when in managed mode the relevant displays show dashes. Rotating the knob reactivates the display and allows a value to be pre-set for activation. The display stays on for 45 seconds before blanking again. This matches the real world behaviour.
There is no ALT HOLD button on the aircraft, so ALT HLD on the autopilot pushes the Vertical speed knob, which commands a level off.
MINS does not function as this is set on the MCDU.
COURSE does not function as this is set on MCDU.
BARO - Push the knob to toggle STD.
Autothrust will automatically activate once the thrust levels are advanced during takeoff. The LED will illuminate. In flight, it CAN be disabled by toggling the switch on your autopilot panel, but it is more commonly disabled by pushing the disconnect button on the throttles, or by retarding the thrust levers.
F/D2 is assigned to the Parking Brake (the A350 only has one Flight Director).
Disengage is pushed twice: once to disengage, again to silence the alarm.
