Changelog

2025-08-17 - v1

  • Initial Release

  • Important

The MobiFlight setting Automatically perform Retrigger Action with Run Mode should be disabled when using this profile. Failure to do so causes unwanted commands when the profile is Run.

    Pilot Notes

    Aircraft Manual

This profile should be used with reference to the Miltech Simulations C-17 manual. This can also be accessed from the aircraft EFB.

Per the manual, "The system has been adapted and simplified, while maintaining the most important modes in regular operations".

    Mode Selectors

The mode selectors on the aircraft do not illuminate. Instead, the pilot can see the engaged AP / FD modes indicated around the PFD.

    BARO

The Baro knob can be pushed to set barometric pressure to 29.92 / 1013. There is no "Standard pressure" mode on the aircraft per se.

    MINS

The selected DH is shown on the aircraft PFD - RA for Radio, B for Barometric.

There is no push to reset function on the C-17.

    Course

The course shown corresponds to the Nav display on the NAVCOM control panel.

COURSE 2 is set as follows:

  • Push COURSE knob. Display dims. COURSE 2 is displayed
  • Dial in desired course using the knob
  • Push COURSE knob. COURSE 1 is displayed. Brightness goes back to normal.
  • IAS

As on the real aircraft, IAS is only sent to the autopilot when confirmed by pushing the IAS knob.

The IAS display will dim when an preselected (i.e. not confirmed) number is shown.

    Heading

As on the real aircraft, Heading is only sent to the autopilot when confirmed by pushing the Heading knob.

The Heading display will dim when an preselected (i.e. not confirmed) number is shown.

    Altitude

As on the real aircraft, Altitude is only sent to the autopilot when confirmed by pushing the Altitude knob.

The Altitude display will dim when an preselected (i.e. not confirmed) number is shown.

    Mission

LNAV is referred to as MSN (Mission).

If MSN is engaged after passing the first waypoint of the flight, the pilot should use Direct To mode on the FMC, to get back on the flight plan. This is per the aircraft manual.

    VOR LOC

At the time of writing, there is no VOR LOC simulated on this aircraft.

    TOGA

TOGA is commanded when N1 THR is pushed for 0.5 seconds.

    SPEED

SPEED activates the SPD Hold function of the C-17.

    N1 THR

N1 THR is linked to the EPR button. At the time of writing, this has no function, other than disengaging SPD Hold.

    VNAV

VNAV is tied to the aircraft's VNAV mode, but at the time of writing this is still being worked on by Miltech.

    Level Change

Level Change is implemented. Push the LVL CHG button, then push the IAS knob to confirm the desired IAS.

    Parking Brake

This is selected and indicated on the CMD B button. This can be disabled by the pilot if desired.
