See You Have Control for info on modding aircraft profiles.
The MobiFlight setting Automatically perform Retrigger Action with Run Mode should be disabled when using this profile. Failure to do so causes unwanted commands when the profile is Run.
For pilot convenience, Autopilot buttons are lit when the relevant mode is active and announced on the aircraft FMA (flight mode annunciator).
Armed but inactive modes are not lit.
The pilot's primary reference should be aircraft FMA.
Where the Autothrottle hits ALFA SPD, VMO LIM, SLAT LIM or FLAP LIM, the N1 THR and SPEED buttons will flash.
On the real Maddog, the Autopilot buttons do not light up. If pilots do not wish their buttons to light, deselect the relevant LED_ outputs in MobiFlight.
Autothrottle is commanded by the toggle switch. The LED is lit when the mode is active.
TOGA is commanded by a LONG PUSH of the N1 THR button. The FMA displays TAK OFF.
EPR LIM is commanded by the N1 THR button.
SPD SEL is commanded by the SPEED button.
MACH SEL is commanded by a LONG PUSH of the SPEED button. The aircraft must be in the appropriate flight envelope.
The C/O button toggles IAS and MACH speed display.
FMS OVRD is commanded by a push of the IAS/MACH knob. This allows the pilot to override the FMS speed during VNAV operations.
In Clamp mode (CLMP) power is removed from the Autothrottle servo and the pilot is free to move the throttles. The servo will be re-engaged when flight conditions change.
NAV is commanded by the LNAV button.
VOR LOC is commanded by the VOR LOC button.
ILS is commanded by the APP button.
AUTO LAND is commanded by a LONG PUSH of the APP button.
As on the real aircraft, after dialling an altitude using the Altitude knob, the Altitude knob must then be PUSHED in order to preselect it as a target for altitude capture.
The preselected altitude is then displayed on the FMA.
Failure to preselect the altitude via a knob push will result in the aircraft passing through the dialled-in altitude without attempting to capture it.
In IAS MACH, the aircraft will attempt to climb or descend while maintaining the present IAS or MACH number.
IAS MACH is commanded by the LVL CHG button.
Push the button again to toggle between IAS or MACH mode.
The IAS or MACH number targeted in this mode will be displayed on the VERT SPEED window, as on the aircraft. It may be adjusted by the VERT SPEED knob.
Separately, the IAS window will continue to display the IAS or MACH target for the autothrottle, which is different from the IAS / MACH used in the vertical speed.
The Maddog does not automatically command EPR when IAS/MACH climb is engaged. It may be necessary to push the N1 THR button to engage EPR LIM and have the aircraft begin the climb. Likewise, in IAS/MACH descent, the Autothrottle may enter CLMP mode; the pilot must manually retard the throttles.
VERT SPD is commanded by the V/S button.
VNAV is commanded by the VNAV button.
ALT HOLD is commanded by the ALT HLD button.
SHORT PUSH of the Disengage button disengages the Autopilot. A second push silences the alarm and clears the flashing alert.
LONG PUSH of the Disengage button disengages the Autothrottle. A second LONG PUSH hides the flashing alert.
EFIS Controls
EFIS MAP Mode and Range are implemented faithfuly to the aircraft.
There is no "Standard Pressure mode" on the Maddog. Dial the BARO to 29.92/1013.
There is no push function on the BARO knob.
With MINS in BARO mode, the orange bug on the altimeter is moved.
With MINS in RADIO mode, the DH is set and displayed on the PFD.
There is no push function on the MINS knob.
CMD B has no function; the button and LED are available for reassignment.
