A Word on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
This post will be updated with more information when it becomes available.
Greetings Pilots!
Now that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is available for pre-order, many of you will be wondering how your Circuit Avionics hardware will work with the new simulator.
In short, we won't know with 100% certainty until release day, but the strong expectation is that everything will continue to work the same as it does now.
Evolution
FS2024 is an evolution of FS2020, built on the same code. Microsoft have indicated "with very few exceptions, virtually all add-ons that work in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) today will function in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024".
The methods we use to communicate with the simulator are long-established, and there is no indication or expectation of any changes in this area.
MobiFlight
The great strength of MobiFlight is that it's an open-source project, developed by talented people with a passion for hardware in Flight Simulation.
MobiFlight communicates with MSFS using a WASM module - you'll have installed this back when you installed MobiFlight.
When FS2024 arrives, we can expect that the MobiFlight Discord server will be a hive of activity, and any update to the WASM Module will arrive very quickly.
Circuit Avionics is a sponsor of MobiFlight and will bring news of any new FS2024 downloads as soon as possible, so watch this space.
We're pretty hyped for what looks to be an excellent addition to the Flight Simulator family. With many new aircraft to fly (and develop Profiles for!) it's set to be an exciting time ahead.
